Field Tests
For testing thermal conductivity / thermal resistivity in the field we use a large and robust needle probe. To avoid mechanical damage caused by heavily compacted soil or large stones, the Field VLQ is used with guiding tubes, which are placed at the planned measuring positions (after pre-drilling where required).
Since thermal conductivity and thermal resistance are strongly dependent on moisture, additionally the current water content at the measuring position must be determined. The gravimetric moisture content is determined in accordance with DIN EN ISO 17892-1.
